Tool & Die Technology

Tool and Die Technologist is among the most highly skilled personnel in manufacturing and area knowledgeable in producing computer-aided drawing (CAD), programming via CAM software for CNC machining operations, and blueprint reading. Tool and Die Technologist plan and execute the entire sequence of tool and die construction from design to final machined product in which the parts they make enable machines to produce a variety of products used in a number of different industries.

The tool and die technologist will perform the high-precision hand fitting, positioning, aligning and assembly techniques involved in the production of stamping dies and therefore they need a mechanical aptitude, the ability to understand and analyse the operation of machinery, attention t detail since the work involves intricate manipulation of tools and instruments.

This programme will appeal to those who are attracted to modern manufacturing technologies, and enjoy working with machines. Students will learn additional skills required to adapt to the evolving technology besides the capacity to solve practical problems and making decisions.

This course is an introduction to the basics of sheet metal forming analysis covering the analysis concept and types of hardware, software and interfaces required. It stresses on the different analysis methods for different models and the boundary conditions of the appropriate methods. Students will acquire the ability to perform proper meshing of models, define appropriate analysis parameter and carry out tooling analysis using appropriate software
